The Social Enterprise: Opportunities and Perspectives

Employees of Caritas organizations from Europe, among which also employees of Caritas Bulgaria, have held a workshop on issues of social entrepreneurship and the opportunities which social economy offers for improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups of people. One of the goals set for discussion was laying the basis for creating a vision and a strategy for development of social entrepreneurship by Caritas.

The workshop was held in Madrid on 16th October – 20th October, 2017. Representatives of the following organizations gathered together: Caritas Bulgaria, Caritas Kosovo, Caritas Albania, Caritas Greece, Caritas Montenegro, Caritas Macedonia, Caritas Serbia, Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina, Caritas Spain, Caritas Italy, Caritas Austria, Caritas France and Catholic Relief Services.

The participants shared their best practices on the creation and development of already existing social enterprises of Caritas, discussed the difficulties which they were facing, as well as the opportunities to overcome them.

The workshop was carried out within the framework of the activity “ELBA: Development of the Social Economy in South-Eastern Europe”.
