With care for those who have become homeless or have chosen to live without a permanent roof over their heads, on 17.01.2024, Caritas and our partners from Sheltersuit Foundation and Kaizen Gaming will distribute special equipment for outdoor experiences in the cold months to 30 homeless people. This will be the first distribution of such jackets, and several more similar actions will be organized in the coming months. The total number planned to reach those living on the street is 90 outfits.

Sheltersuit is a highly specialized cold, water and windproof jacket that can be transformed into full-body equipment. It has an attached (optional) sleeping bag that provides immediate and secure shelter. Sheltersuit consists of a jacket, sleeping bag and bag.

The outer shell is made of high-quality, breathable, waterproof tent fabric. The inner lining is made of upcycled sleeping bags, which makes each Sheltersuit unique. The large hood protects the face from rain and street lights and contains an integrated scarf. In this way, people who are homeless and face the winter on the street can protect themselves from hypothermia, frostbite and constant lighting from street lamps.

Through its work, at every level of the organization, Caritas appeals for a good understanding of the causes and risks leading to homelessness and advocates for the development of appropriate support that adequately meets the needs of homeless people.
