2017 – Caritas Day: Let us love not in words but in deeds

“We accompany, serve and plead the cause of those made poor and pushed to the margins, helping them to transform the societies in which they live and the structures that keep them poor.”

From the Caritas Code of Ethics.

Every year on the Sunday before November 13th – the day of the blessed martyrs Eugene, Kamen, Paul and Yosafat, we celebrate Caritas Day. It was determined by a decision of the Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church in Bulgaria and aims to motivate Christian communities and all people of good will, regardless of their religion and nationality, to express their sympathy with the sufferers and to learn more about the diverse activities of Caritas in support of those in need.

This year Caritas Day (November 12th, 2017) took place under the slogan Let us love not in words but in deeds and marked the beginning of a week dedicated to the poor.

In the week of November 12-19, 2017, Caritas employees, representatives of the Catholic Community in Bulgaria and all those engaged in the mission of Caritas organised events in support of the poor and in support of the Caritas activities through which the organisation provides daily professional care for those in need.
