2017 Equal in our differences

Caritas Bulgaria issued a manual “Equal in our differences”. The Manual provides accessible information on Caritas’s understanding and beliefs on asylum, integration and acceptance; the benefits to the Bulgarian society and the refugees themselves. It aims to:

• present a realistic picture of the obstacles that refugees and asylum seekers face trying to integrate in Bulgaria. To point good practices of integrated families and successful Caritas practices in their support.
• present basic information to orient refugees and Bulgarians on the relevant policies, rights and responsibilities, access to educational, health and social services, housing, employment and Bulgarian language training.
• show the obstacles and challenges in the integration process and to forward our recommendations for actions to the government and other relevant authorities to improve the process for those that are in need.
• challenge the existing negative attitudes in the Bulgarian society.
