- In 2020 Caritas’ staff helped to 63 disadvantaged women.
- Monthly support was given to 45 women, as in some cases the support was daily, in others – weekly.
Caritas helps disadvantaged women with the following activities and services:
For disadvantaged women there is a Caritas Sofia Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration “Rozhdestvo Hristovo” in the town of Sofia which provides social, emotional, psychological support, specialized counseling, assistance to find work for single mothers, poor women, elderly women, victims of domestic violence, women with mental and physical disabilities, refugee women. There are also activities to prevent the abandonment of newborns and to increase parental capacity. There is also an opportunity for the women to work in the social enterprise of the center. The center also provides an accommodation in a protected house, organizes a summer day care activities for children, and a soup-kitchen for disadvantaged people.
For victims of trafficking and domestic violence there is a Caritas Ruse Crisis Center in the town of Ruse that provides accommodation, humanitarian assistance, social consultations, emotional support, consultation with a lawyer and other professional services.
