The old age can be lived with dignity

There are many elderly people in Bulgaria who experience their old age quietly, forgotten in their homes. A large part of them live in loneliness, poverty and disease.

To an aged person, home comfort and medical care are of crucial importance. But old people need a good word, too. They need some history. They need our „Good morning/afternoon!” and our sincere smile.

The only thing required for all these is a HEART. It is not difficult.

An old person is like a child – he/she sees with his/her heart, he/she feels with his/her soul and enjoys small things. The path he/she has passed so far is worthy of respect. The emotions he/she has experienced are our life lesson. His/her personal story is the history of our maturing. So, ask to know it. And hear it with your heart.

The old age can be lived with dignity

There are over a million and four hundred thousand aged people in Bulgaria (by data from the National Institute of Statistics for 2016). In 2025, 1 in every 5 Bulgarians will be older than 65. Old people in our country do not have much choice, poverty and loneliness being among the traps they often fall in. If we add illnesses to them, which overwhelm them almost as a must, as well as the absence of close people and relatives around to support them, the picture turns from sorrowful to tragic.
